Dynamic soil improvement techniques are:
– Vibro replacement
– Vibrofloatation
– Impulse compaction
All of these techniques are widely used for various reasons, such as compaction, resistance to liquefication, bearing resistance, improvement of seepage and so on.
Basically first 3 methods are used for non-cohesive poor to medium density soils.
Impulse compaction is a recent method for soil improvement; it is a cost effective method for compacting non cohesive soils up to 4 m depth.
The other methods such as vibro compaction are most effective for sandy, silty soils.
