Pile foundations

Pile foundations are normally used in presence of weak upper soil layer (2-3 m. depth).

For residential construction piles are joined together to a pile cap (strip or planar one), on which bricks or framework is constructed.

Piles can be classified by their material:

Wooden
Steel
Reinforced concrete

Composite

They can also be classified by diameter:

Micro piles (Diameter < 300 mm.)

Medium diameter piles (300 mm – 1000 mm.)

Large diameter piles (up to 1 m)

Medium and large diameter piles nowadays are used as retaining structures for excavations, therefore more  micro piles, such as ductile piles are used for load transmission purposes.

Micro-piles are also used in construction of a  near-by buildings. With this kind of piles this construction is plausible and cost-effective
